I’ve been working in mental health and substance use treatment for about 10 years now. I graduated from Rutgers University with a Master’s of Science in Rehabilitation Counseling in Clinical Mental Health. I'm a Licensed Professional Counselor in New Jersey and a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor in Maine. I attained my Approved Clinical Supervisor at the Essential Soul Care Academy under the guidance of Dr. DeeAnna Merz Nagel and Certified Clinical Supervisor in 2023 . I’ve worked in many different areas of the field from partial care and hospitalization, homeless services for veterans and the private practice setting. I loved all of these experiences as it taught me a lot about people! From anxiety, depression, obsessive-compulsive behaviors, relationship and interpersonal issues, trauma; it made me realize how much we can all relate to one another; the common humanity in it all. These are all shared experiences and I want to help people see that and overcome whatever barriers they face.
My free time is spent painting and watching some of my favorite reality shows on Bravo! My family is from Portugal, I do speak Portuguese and Spanish, and we love our futebol, pasteis de nata and caldo verde! My culture is everything to me. My favorite pastime is being with family and friends! My favorite color is green, I make a mean penne vodka sauce, I love Marvel movies and if I could have a super power it would most definitely be to fly!

“Working with Angela has been a transformative experience. She is an exceptional listener who truly takes the time to understand you, offering practical guidance that addresses the root of your challenges. Her insights into my anxiety have been invaluable, and I've made significant progress under her care. What sets her apart is her ability to challenge you in a supportive way, helping you overcome barriers you might not even realize are there. Trustworthy, compassionate, and a pleasure to work with—Angela is simply outstanding, and I recommend her without hesitation.”

“I've been seeing Angela for six months, and my mental and emotional well-being have already improved more than they ever did under the care of therapists I'd sometimes seen for years. She's conversational and funny, and our sessions feel less like stereotypically stuffy therapy appointments than casual discussions with a particularly wise friend. Angela is enthusiastic about introducing me to tools and skills I can use to take a more active role in my mental health, and about working with me to customize those tools for my personal situation. I come away from each session feeling encouraged, which is a new and quite welcome feeling to me!”

"Angela has been a great guiding light in my life. She's the only therapist I've had who I feel I make progress with every session I have. One thing I know for sure is if I have any issues going on, Angela keeps me on track to finding the resolutions regarding the situation."
